Dr. McGuire was born and raised in Elizabeth, New Jersey.  He is a graduate of Delbarton School in Morristown, New Jersey and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.  After college Dr. McGuire attended and graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University Dental School in Teaneck, New Jersey.
 
   Dr. McGuire practiced general dentistry for the next two years.  Enjoying treating children as much as he did, he then did a two year pediatric dental residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.  During his training at Children’s Hospital Dr. McGuire was chosen Chief Resident and was responsible to oversee all emergency care given in their dental department.  He also was asked to serve as an instructor at the University Of Pittsburgh Dental School’s Pediatric Department.

   Upon completion of his pediatric specialty training, Dr. McGuire and his family moved to Monmouth County and opened an office in Red Bank.  He and his wife, Janet,always loved visiting the “shore” and decided that was where they wanted to raise their family.

   While he worked hard taking care of his young patient population, Dr. McGuire was very active in the community.  He has been active in many organizations including the Monmouth-Ocean County Dental Society, the New Jersey Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the American Society of Dentistry for Children, and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.  He also served on the staffs of Monmouth Medical Center, Bayshore Hospital and Riverview Medical Center where he is currently the only Pediatric Dentist on call for the Center’s emergency room.  For more then ten years Dr. McGuire was Chairman of the Monmouth-Ocean Counties children’s dental health month.  He also coached Little League Baseball and was involved in his town’s basketball and football programs.  If you get the idea he loves working and having fun with kids, you’re right.

    Over time the office in Red Bank became too small for the demands placed on it.  Moving to a new office in Shrewsbury, New Jersey gave Dr. McGuire a chance to live a dream.  He wanted an environment that would not only be functional but also be a fun- filled, happy place for kids.

  With that in mind he designed an office with a theater that can sit over sixty children at a time.  It is used for group visits that include fun movies and dental education.  The office also has an arcade room with six state-of-the-art video games.  There is a climb-in playhouse, a four hundred gallon saltwater fish tank and a toy (reward) store with multiple shelves of toys and a spinning wheel-- like the kind on a boardwalk.

    The list of unique and innovative things for your child/children to do goes on-and-on.  You must see it to believe it!  Most importantly thou, the professional dental care administered by the entire staff is topnotch.  Dr. McGuire firmly believes that excellent dental care and fun can go hand-in-hand.
